We made a suspended christmas ornament tree!
Here we go!
Laying out the paper for creating a ceiling template for all of the hooks.
I forgot to save the 3-d model version, so you don’t get that I’m afraid 🙁 I used Autocad for this, measured the wall space, the depth I could go from the wall, and just made concentric rings on a conical plane. All in all, it was probably unnecessary. I could have rough guessed it all on the fly and been pretty good anyway.
Drew a 3″x3″ grid (42″x24″ total), used that to approximate the dots from the 3-d model. The big square cutout is for an A/C Vent. That’s going to be the real challenge.
Placed on ceiling. The grate was going to provide significant challenge
Paper removed, color coded the hooks to remember what “rings” were what
Robin is stringing them all and crimping, and I’m putting them up one by one. She got really fast with this after the first couple ornaments.
All done! Garland underneath and the prestigious award to set it off!
Hope you liked it! Took about 3-4 hours from start to finish.
It kind of looks like a Dalek, and as you can see from the painting in the background, we have no problem with that.
